Here we go again

Grades were posted yesterday afternoon for the Spring week 1 classes at Regis. As expected, I managed to get an A in MSCC 610. Not to sound cocky about it, but the class was fairly simple and the content was familiar and straightforward. Next I will be taking MSCI 600, which is being offered at Regis’s Broomfield campus. I am quite annoyed about having to head another few miles northwest of my employer to go to class. This is going to leave me with a 30-40 minute commute back home after getting out of class at 10pm. If it is that unbearable, I might consider the online course option if the Lowell Campus is not offering a course I need to take. I have avoided the online courses so far. For some reason I don’t think I am cut out for them. I really enjoy the classroom environment and having open discussion about the course material. I imagine the same thing goes on in an online course, instead using web-based forum. I’m sure I’ll have to compromise sooner or later… Last night I had to get some reading done in my new textbook. I was shocked to see how expensive this book was… After trading in all the books I have purchased so far, it still cost 50+ dollars. To get away from the distractions around the house, I went out to find a coffee shop to read at. I planned on going to the 24 hour Starbucks but it tends to be noisy and packed with people. I figured this would not be the best place to read since I don’t deal with background noise well. Instead, I ended up and Pablo’s on 6th and it was a great place to read. Generally quiet, soft music, and comfortable chairs. The only drawback was that the store closes at 10pm on weekdays. This should work out anyway because I like to be in bed around 11pm or so. I’m not certain that I am prepared to start another class. Turns out I have to complete a two page paper for the first day of class. This definitely eats into the list of things I wanted to accomplish on my few days off. It will likely take me the rest of the time off to complete the 3 chapters of reading and then the remainder of any free time to write the paper. Perhaps I will take a break after this class. Not because I’m burnt out, but because the tuition reimbursement plan at my employer will not cover me financially to attend classes all year. Classes have cost about $1170 at Regis so far and I am only allotted $5000 per calendar year. Seems taking a break after this next class would leave me with enough funds to complete another two classes.

At least the subject matter of this next class seems more interesting. I really like the book so far and I think the 1st weeks assignment will be fairly simple to put together. If I’m happy with the final copy of the paper, perhaps I will post it. So, did I leave you with enough links to click on? I really should get ready for work…
