Schoooools out for summer!Posted In: Everyday life — July 11, 2005 @ 12:08 pm — PeterAs of July 3rd, I’ve been relieved of my academic duties until next term. I’m taking some time off to work with Stephanie in converting our home office to baby’s nursery. I’m quite excited about the project! I never used the office very much as I’m fonder of working via laptop from random parts of the house, including outside. Transforming this room into usable space will be like discovering this room all over again. We have some tentative plans for decorating, but nothing definitive yet. First we must purge all office type items and put a fresh coat of paint on the walls. I’m working on moving our motyka.org web server from a desk in this room to a vacant space in the entertainment cabinet in our living room. For this to work, we’ll have to acquire a VGA scan converter so the television can be used as a monitor. I’ll be stalking eBay for the weeks to come and hopefully find a deal on such a gizmo. This past weekend we managed to get quite a bit of work done and have some fun too. We took a trip out to Boulder on Saturday, had dinner at the Boulder Vegetarian Coop, and wandered around the Pearl Street Mall. The same evening, we watched the second installment of the latest Spiderman movie series. We were inspired to see these movies after receiving a gift from a coworker of mine. She wrapped the “Baby Signs” book in Spiderman paper and this reminded us that we have yet to see the movies. It was a very Spiderman weekend at our house as we watched both films Friday and Saturday night. While they weren’t cinematographically brilliant, they were fun, action packed, and topped with plenty of pleasantly cheesy romance scenes. I read a few Spiderman comics when I was younger, so it was fun throwback to my comic reading years. On Sunday I joined my brother for an afternoon with a few of his friends. This group has an interesting dynamic. The first hour or so of conversation is full of embedded insults being slung back and forth with the occasion roar for a particularly clever “burn”. An example of such, I was “burned” when talking about the Tori Amos concert Stephanie and I will be attending at Red Rocks. I was told in addition to the ticket price, I’d have to hand my scrotum in at the door since I’d be the only man attending the event. An interesting group I must say, it’s likely the same sort of banter goes on in the ape house at the Denver Zoo I’ll end this post with some gloating… I scored yet another ‘A’ in the Regis MSCIT program!

Wow! Look at all them A’s! I’m a proud momma! I remember when Dad was working on his master’s…for a minute, it looked like he wouldn’t be able to participate in the commencement program since the doctor thought you were going to be born early, but you held off being born and I literally waddled into the Auditorium to see Dad receive his Master’s Degree - all we kept thinking was that Dad would move over to the next step and lane on the pay scale and we’d get that big raise we needed so badly with another baby in the house.
Hope all’s well - call home so we know everyone’s ok - we still worry even though you’re all grown up with a baby of your own on the way.
Love,
Mom
