It’s a GIRL!!!Posted In: Everyday life — July 16, 2005 @ 10:58 am — StephaniePeter and I are going to have a daughter!!! We had our 20 week ultrasound yesterday, and couldn’t be more thrilled with the results. It was fun calling everybody and hearing them scream into the phone. My mom told me all along that it was a girl and that I didn’t have to bother with boy names. She’s happy because now she’ll have two grandsons and two granddaughters. Mrs. M is equally–no, probably insanely–thrilled with the idea of having a girl in the family. She actually called us later to ask if it were really true. : ) The ultrasound itself went very well. The ultrasound tech carefully examined every inch of the baby. She is six inches long from crown to rump and there is an extra three or so for legs. We think we have a boxer inside, because she kept her little hands in fists and pummeled the placenta. Peter was amazed that I didn’t feel it. Her spine looked good and according to the U/S tech, her brain looked “beautiful”. Peter was particularly happy to hear that. He already has evil plans to turn our little girl into a computer geek. The heartbeat was strong and neat to see on the ultrasound. Peter and I were staring at the screen in awe. We looked at each other, and, at that moment, I don’t think I’ve ever loved him more. /mushy grossness The only piece of news that wasn’t quite good was that the tip of the placenta is lying low, close to the cervix. This means I get an additional ultrasound at 34 weeks, but it also means I’m a potential candidate for a c-section. I was hoping for a low-intervention birth, so this is really frightening for me. There is still a good chance of it moving up out of the way, but I have to prepare myself for the possibility of a cesarian. Without further ado, here is our darling little girl– That one is my favorite, because the profile shot of the face is pretty clear. The rest of the ultrasound photos are located in the Baby Girl Motyka photo gallery. There is one there from 8 weeks. You can see how much she’s grown in the last 12 weeks! http://motyka.org/gallery/album.php?id=27 7 Responses to “It’s a GIRL!!!”Leave a Reply |

Well, your blog didn’t take my original copy/paste so here’s what the “Go for it!” comment was in regards to: “He already has evil plans to turn our little girl into a computer geek.”

She is just beautiful! Her little face, arms, legs, spine - just beautiful! Of course we would have been just as happy if baby was a boy, but I have to admit, I am beyond thrilled about having a little girl - especially after having 2 boys and living a life of upright toilet seats. Not much new here - it is very, very hot so we are hanging around the house and running the central air 24/7.
Gramma will be out shopping in full force for her little pumpkin - I know, I know - no excessive pink clothes or lacey stuff - I will be shopping nonetheless!
Love,
Mom

I’m pregnant?? Why didn’t anyone tell me?! : /
Soon, I’m sure to hit a growth spurt and there will be no denying there’s a baby in there. Peter and I think I look huge!
So, Brian…We can count on you to come over to change a few diapers right? I’ll be sure to call you when explosive diarrhea is involved.
