Movin’ right along

Last night Stephanie and I were hanging out on the couch talking about baby stuff when we came to the conclusion that we have not noticed much activity in the belly lately. Just as we were trying to determine when the last movement occurred, Stephanie was jolted with a little kick. Perhaps our conversation was overheard and someone was letting us know that things were going just fine. Later in the evening, I put my ear to Stephanie’s belly and tapped lightly. My taps were answered with a few swift kicks. Baby seems to be doing well and we are excited as ever as we make progress on the nursery.

The nursery is not coming together as quickly as we had planed, but process is definitely being made. I’ve relocated all computer stuff, sold the desk, and put the obnoxiously large office chair in the trash for large item pickup after having a cat vomit all over it. All that remains in the office at this point is a paper shredder and a few nursery items. Hopefully by the end of this week I’ll start taping off the trim, laying down the drop cloths, and wrapping up other preparation activities for painting.

Other news… I’m switching jobs and my last day at SunCorp is Friday. I’m sad to leave all the friends I have made, but I’ll do my best to stay in touch. My new employer will be Fiserv and they are conveniently located in downtown Denver. I’ll be trading in my current 16.7 mile commute for a 3.8 mile stroll. I’ve yet to investigate the building for showers, but I intend to bike to work once or twice a week. Other days I’ll be taking advantage of the RTD EcoPass benefit. I’m thrilled to have landed a job downtown with a company that has plenty of opportunities for advancement. I look forward to the challenges that await me. My current coworkers have been wonderful and are very supportive of the decision I have made.

Last but not least… I’ve begun a bit of an exercise routine. It has been nearly two weeks now that I’ve been squeezing a morning jog into my schedule. There are still a few kinks to work out in my timing, but I should have plenty of time to fit a mile or two in once I am spending less time schlepping myself to work. My goal is to be jogging two miles each day, without interruption to my morning schedule, by the end of August. Hopefully I’ve not cursed myself by speaking of this before it is an established routine…

You better do your best to stay in touch!!! I consider you a friend not just a co-worker. And remember, I’ll be seeing you on 9/3, if not sooner for a ‘beer’!! ;-)

    Hi Pete! Hi Stephanie!

You two are more prepared than we were for both you and Brian - we had very little ready for Brian when we brought him home - funds were tight and parents/inlaws cried about every dime so lots of our baby shopping was done at garage sales and whatever we got from other people. We love the furniture you picked out - and just remember, Pete, the glider is for Stephanie and baby - no daddy sleeping in there - ok, ok, maybe sometimes.

Not much new here - it has been so hot here - I think it is the humidity more than the heat - even today it was supposed to be cooler but that hasn’t happened yet. Angela, she’s the young lady from Poland who helps with the housework, is here today and the Charming Ms. Bella still insists on watching her every move - Angela seems more comfortable with Bella once I explained that black cats are not really bad luck - it is merely a color of fur. Angela is really amazing - she is so young and loves America - she is a hard worker and finds her way around everywhere checking “mops” on the internet. She really means “maps” but with her accent, she pronounces it “mops”. Very sweet young girl and very pretty.

Dad is looking forward to his visit on the 19th…..he needs to “de-hype” - he is very stressed from the kids at school - it is a wild place - I’m glad the kids at Richards are not as violent or dangerous - there are some scary times but the couple times when a gang fight broke out, I locked my office door and laid on the security buzzer - it’s only happened twice and both times they were girl on girl gang fights - those are worse than the boy on boy fights though.

Call home so we know you’re ok…..give our love and kisses to our little granddaughter, our furry granddaughter and the grandcats.

    Love,
    Mom

Great getting to work with you! Pete. I am back at work after my vacation, but you are non-replaceable. Your parents have a lot to be proud of with the person you are, here’s wishing you the best from Alex, Trevor, Megan, Lisa and I.

Feel free to consider us extended family and with Alex turning 12 she will be taking a baby sitting course in order to be a good babysitter for those times when you and Stephanie need some time to yourselves.
