This weekend, Peter and I took Amelia to the Denver Botanic Gardens, since Earth Day was a free day. She was pretty unimpressed with it all, but seemed to enjoy being outside in the fresh air and sunshine. Of course, we took plenty of new pictures (under month 5).

We also got the professional pictures back that we had taken when Amelia was 8 weeks old–finally! They came out GREAT! Look for those under month 3.

Amelia’s been laughing for quite awhile now, but we’ve been rather unlucky at catching it on video—until now! If this doesn’t brighten your day and bring a smile to your face, I don’t know what will.

She sits! For 8 seconds, at least. Video taken an hour ago. Amelia is 19 weeks old today!

Portraits!

Posted In: Amelia, Everyday life — April 17, 2006 @ 8:08 pm — Peter

This past weekend my parents were in town and one of the activities planned was portraits with Amelia. Despite having pretty gloomy weather on Saturday, it was nice to have visitors and we all had fun spending time together. I’ll get around to scanning the original 8×10 photos soon, until then, here are the low resolutions copies from searsportrait.com.

Our baby girl is growing so fast, it seems like I blinked and she’s this big. I do have to say, though, that this parenting thing just gets more and more fun. Amelia is soooo much more interactive lately. She manipulates objects a lot better now, tries to sit up, and wins our hearts with her giggles. She has rolled over a few times, which almost made me cry with pride. I can’t even explain how awesome she is. My life has been enriched beyond what I could have ever hoped for. She’s currently bouncing away in her jumperoo, blowing rasperries, and laughing at herself. Oh, she is wonderful…!

She had her 4th month check-up on Friday, which included a physical and some vaccinations. Our little chunk weighs in at 14lbs 5oz (75th percentile) and is 26.5″ long (above 95th percentile)–a far cry from our little 19.5 inch, 8lb 1ozer! The shots went okay, even though I literally felt my heart ripping from my chest when she screamed as they were administered. It was awful. Mama always cries. Luckily, Peter took the afternoon off work so he could be there with us. She reacted a bit to the vax, but she’s fine now. Just a LOT of crankiness, pretty much.

I’ve been taking her out for walks in the neighborhood in the Bugaboo every day. We walk at least 2 miles, which makes me feel better and guarantees an afternoon nap for Amelia. We usually walk to the park a block up from our house and do laps on the 1/3 mile track there, but sometimes we check out the other park in the ‘hood. I bring a blanket to spread out on the grass, so I can tickle her and kiss her cute little toes. I don’t know if this warmer weather will hold out for much longer, but we are really enjoying it!

As soon as I’m done cropping and editing, we’ll get some new pics posted of our little gumdrop.
