Easy like Sunday MorningPosted In: Everyday life — August 13, 2006 @ 10:06 am — PeterAmelia is napping in her swing and I’ve finally got some time to post an update about what has been new with us over the past few weeks. Most notable would be our nearly relocating to Corvallis, Oregon. A prospective employer flew me out there (with Stephanie and Amelia in tow) for an interview and weekend to assess the area for relocation potential. We tried really hard, but the area just didn’t attract us. Unfortunately we didn’t come to this conclusion until after the interview, so I maintained eagerness about relocation throughout the interview not knowing much about the area. Upon coming back to Denver, we realized that we’re too attached to the conveniences of a large metropolitan area, and we’d likely be staying in Denver unless the offer was too good to refuse. As expected, the offer was middle of the road and I respectfully declined. In hindsight, I believe we made the right decision as Denver has much to offer our family and has a more diverse job market in the event I need to change jobs for any reason. So, our weekend fling in Oregon was lots of fun, complete with journey to the coastal town of Newport. The water was icy cold but walking along the misty beach with Stephanie and Amelia is something I’ll never forget. Pictures can be found here.
Upon return, my current employer relocated our team from an office annex to the main downtown building. I landed a wonderful seat with a view of downtown Denver and the mountains. Needless to say, this definitely helped me decide that I wanted to stay in Denver. It might sound silly, but a great cubicle like this sure does a lot for my productivity and overall job satisfaction. Picture 1, Picture 2, and Picture 3… Amazing that the weekend is nearly over, I feel like it just started. We’ve been on a whirlwind of getting things done and are planning to purchase some new home appliances today. We figure since we planned to put new appliances in to make our home more desirable had we been faced with selling it, we might as well have them installed now so we can enjoy them too. We’re tentatively thinking of going with GE’s clean steel line, something like this. I’m looking forward to the upgrade. The current 80’s appliances in our kitchen are long overdue for replacement and are a pain in the butt to use, especially since the spring broke on the dishwasher and the door drops like a brick after you open the latch. Last but not least, we went for family portraits at Sears last weekend. We opted for the data CD so we own rights to all the images and can print as many as we’d like. Email us or leave a comment if you’d like a print. The photos are posted here.
