Our Florida tripPosted In: Everyday life — September 24, 2006 @ 12:55 am — StephanieI’m a week late at getting this post up, but better late than never! Peter, Amelia, and I flew down to Tampa to spend time with our friends Meghann, Nick and their baby Gabby, and our friend Yazie, her husband Vinnie, and their baby Vinny. Gabby is three months older than Mia, and Vinny is about three weeks younger than Mia. Amelia seemed to really enjoy meeting them and spending time with the other babies. She had a blast playing in Gabby’s room with all of her fun toys–which made me think Amelia should probably get some more toys. Mia and Gabby fought over some stuff, and they seemed to always have to do what the other one did. It was adorable! We had a great visit with them and really missed everyone when we left. The three of us and our babies: Vinny, Gabby, and Mia: My beach baby: We had a good time: More pics found here….clicky clicky!
Amelia’s newest trick….Posted In: Everyday life — September 18, 2006 @ 6:24 pm — PeterWhen I got home from work this evening, Amelia was so excited to show off her latest achievement. The video speaks for itself, our little girl is learning to walk!
Wyoming, Why not?!?Posted In: Everyday life — September 12, 2006 @ 12:31 pm — PeterOver Labor Day weekend, we took a drive up through Ft. Collins and to Cheyenne, Wyoming. Our interest had been perked for a while now by Ft. Collins being awarded “Best Place to Live” by Money Magazine in 2006. Time was limited, so we stopped for lunch at Rainbow Resturant and took a stroll on the Colorado State University campus across the street. After walking off lunch, we drove around the city and found park for Amelia to play at before heading on the road. The park we landed it happened to be Fort Collin’s city park and had a fun miniature train that did a loop, complete with short tunnel. After a ride on the train and some time on the swings, we packed up the car and headed to Cheyenne.
The landscape towards Cheyenne was interesting. Lots of hills and spontaneous rock formations jutting out from the ground seemed to keep the areas around the highway from being farmland. After a few turnarounds and a 10 mile stretch in the wrong direction, we arrived in Cheyenne. I must say, I was impressed with how clean and nice the city seemed. I was expecting a dusty old cowboy town with nothing to offer curious “tourist” wandering up from Denver. We walked around the old train station and browsed the western wear shop. Unfortunately an infant-sized cowboy hat was nowhere to be found. We drove around for a while, saw the capital building, and came across Lions Park. Such a beautiful park, complete with free botanic garden, lake, and wooded walking trails. After spending an hour or so, we packed up to make it back to Denver at a decent hour.
Pictures from both Fort Collins and Cheyenne.
Summer comes to an endPosted In: Everyday life — September 3, 2006 @ 12:42 am — PeterSummer has gone by far too quickly and cooler fall weather has arrived a bit early with temperature in the 50’s today. Two weeks ago, Stephanie’s father Joe was in town for his first visit to Colorado and a good time was had by all. We took advantage of the extra set of hands around the house as it happened to be the same weekend in which our appliances were delivered. Thankfully, we managed to get everything installed and Joe helped me mount the microwave despite all the trouble we had drilling through the stone tile on the walls. With a job well done, our kitchen looks fabulous and we continue to embark on small home improvements to help spruce the place up. While Joe was out here, we managed to squeak in a visit to one of our favorite Colorado tourist spots, Garden of the Gods. We walked the paved trail and marveled at the stunning rock formations. The place is teeming with photo opportunities and we definitely took advantage of them! The pictures from Joe’s visit can be found here.
Last weekend, I got in touch with a former classmate and we met up at the Downtown Denver Public Library branch for a baby playdate. He and his wife are fun people and we had a nice time watching the babies stare at each other and interact a bit. Seems they are still a bit too young to really appreciate each others company, but I bet in the coming months, they’ll like to socialize much more. Hopefully, we keep in touch and can get together again in a couple weeks.
We went to another play date this morning at City Park and met up with several other parents and children. A few of the kids were Amelia’s age and we plan to attend the groups’ next meet up on the first Saturday of each month. Finally, the big news! Amelia decided to begin waving ‘hello’. After revealing this earlier in the week, Amelia has been waving at just about everyone and everything! Here is a glimpse of the action… |
