Rafting on the Arkansas River

With Stephanie and Amelia away in Chicago, I decided to tag along with Ian and his friends to Buena Vista for a white water rafting adventure. I went rafting once before, nearly 13 years ago when on a high school trip. That was some time ago, so it was long overdue to get out on the water again.

For some reason I was elected to be in the front of the raft with another guy Jose. I suspect it was because we were the “biggest” people in the group. We went over some wild rapids and were soaked by some seriously cold water. I passed on the opportunity to hop in the water. Only two brave raft riders when for a dip. Way to go Ian!

Here was the route we took on the Arkansas River. The trip was roughly 10 miles…
