Rafting on the Arkansas RiverPosted In: Everyday life — July 30, 2007 @ 9:22 pm — PeterWith Stephanie and Amelia away in Chicago, I decided to tag along with Ian and his friends to Buena Vista for a white water rafting adventure. I went rafting once before, nearly 13 years ago when on a high school trip. That was some time ago, so it was long overdue to get out on the water again. For some reason I was elected to be in the front of the raft with another guy Jose. I suspect it was because we were the “biggest” people in the group. This was really intimidating since the water was 48 degrees (Fahrenheit) and I really really really don’t like cold water. The group also selected the raft which required all of us to row/paddle. I’m happy we picked this option, it would have not been as fun to just sit there while the guide rowed. We went over some wild rapids and were soaked by some seriously cold water. I passed on the opportunity to hop in the water. Only two brave raft riders when for a dip. Way to go Ian! Here is a group shot as we passed over the Zoom Flume rapid.
