Catching up

Posted In: Amelia, Everyday life — December 26, 2007 @ 10:41 pm — Peter

With all the course work I had to wrap up, I never got around to posting about Amelia’s 2nd birthday party and my parents visiting. Well, to sum it up, it was a ton of fun. Amelia’s party was at the Denver Children’s Museum and we had a great turn out. Despite being a bit hurried due to some snowy weather, everyone pitched in to help setup and tear down. After the party officially ended, a couple families stuck around to play in the mini basketball court and the ant-hill thing.

More birthday party photos…

My parents were in town for the party and we had them over a couple times to get some quality Amelia time. We also took a trip up to Ping’s office to pick up my MacBook and have few games of foosball. I let my Dad win a couple, then I turned on the skills and showed him how real foosball is played ;)

The view from Ping’s office is spectacular this time of year. Sweeping landscapes of the city with snowcapped mountains in the background. I’ve tried to photograph it a few times, but never had much luck. Andre was testing how his new digital SLR the other day and captured a few stunning shots.

I’m done! Well, not quite…

Posted In: Academic, Everyday life — December 21, 2007 @ 10:43 am — Peter

The grades are in and I couldn’t be happier. It was a rough past 8 weeks but I manged to pull off a couple more A’s to boost my GPA to 3.900, the lowest possible point to graduate with high honors, Summa Cum Laude. The idea of graduating with honors is totally foreign to me. While I won’t air the dirty laundry about my undergraduate GPA, lets just say I was nowhere close to honors.

I say I’m done, but I do have this pesky thesis to tend to yet. The plan is to take the next 8 weeks to select a topic, draft a proposal and then get a considerable amount of the research and documentation done. The following 8 weeks will be used for wrapping up the thesis document and preparing for presentation and defense. Should all this go as planned, I’ll be graduating on May 3rd 2008.

Here is my final grade report sans the row that represents my completed thesis.

Santa, oh no!

Posted In: Amelia — December 8, 2007 @ 10:52 pm — Peter

Amelia seems pretty fond of Santa, but when it comes to posing for a picture, that is another story. She was all smiles until we tried to put her on the big guy’s lap. I ended up getting into the sleigh with them to try to smooth things over, but that didn’t work very well. We also ended up with some other kids photo on our take home CD. Thankfully we have a scanner to fall back on.
