day with my girlPosted In: Amelia, Everyday life — January 12, 2008 @ 11:15 pm — PeterSince Stephanie was so wonderful to put up with me being out of the house the entire day in order to attend important meetings and the company holiday party, I gave her some peace and quiet with Amelia and Iris out of the house this morning/afternoon. Iris had to be dropped off after our first outing since she’d be hard to pass off as a toddler at the kiddie gym Here was our itinerary for the day: 6am: Amelia begins calling for Dada letting me know she is ready to get out of bed. Our morning routine consists of having a bowl of cereal together and watching an episode of one of her favorite cartoons. 8:15am: Met coworker David for a coffee at Cafe Europa and then walked around Washington Park. David is on my biggest loser team at work and we’re committed to working together to shed a few pounds since we live near each other. Hopefully he is up for another one of these outings. I’m afraid my hyperactive demanding dog may have scared him off. Amelia also insisted he carry her for the final stretch of the walk. Thanks for being a good sport David! 10:30am: Drop off Iris and prepare for the next outing, Kangaroo Kingdom. I had to fight with my MacBook get directions printed to Lafayette. It seems all my printer configurations were lost when I upgraded to OS X - Leopard. After getting the printer working, Amelia and I were off to the far northwestern burbs to seek the Kingdom. As usual, I made a couple wrong turns and chipped away and precious play time. We got there with about 1 hour and 15 minutes to play. First impression, the space seemed small, but was packed with fun stuff to play with. It took Amelia about 10 minutes to warm up and then she was running all over like a wild child. There were very few kids for Amelia to play with since we arrived near the end of open play hours. For the last 30 minutes, we had the place to ourselves. Although it was a small space, the toys and props were high quality and Amelia had a great time!
12:30pm: Got directions from the attendant at Kangaroo Kingdom to Boulder. It was a scenic 15 minute drive west into central Boulder to our lunch spot, VG Burgers. I had the classic burger and Amelia had a dog and fries. After lunch, it was time to head home and see what Mama was up to. I definitely plan to do morning/afternoons like this more often. Not only did Amelia and I get valuable time together, Stephanie was able recuperate from a busy week and curl up with a good book for a few hours. |
