You down with DNC, ya you know me!

Posted In: Denver — August 24, 2008 @ 9:21 pm — Peter

We went downtown tonight to check out the DNC happenings. It was very peaceful with lots of people milling around. You’d think there was a riot about to break out at any minute with the police presence. I’ll post some more of the photos later…

Bye Bye Paci! An update on Amelia

Posted In: Amelia — August 12, 2008 @ 12:56 am — Stephanie

It’s been two weeks now since Amelia said goodbye to her pacifier. I tossed them and decided we’d do this thing cold turkey. The first night was tough, the second and third were less so, and the fourth was easy peasy. Since then, she has had a little more bedtime anxiety, but we’re working on that, too.

Other updates:

*No accidents in over a month! Goooo Mia!
*Is a counting maniac! She counts everything!
*Identifies her written name
*Composes/performs songs and plays for us and “sells” us tickets to her performances
*Loves her school and has developed good friendships there
*Is really into dinosaurs, monkeys, elephants, and fish
*Says her favorite color is blue
*Favorite foods: orange pineapple banana juice, cashews, chick-free nuggets, and chocolate
*Most uttered phrases: “I can’t!” - “I don’t like it!” - “What happened?”
*Loves to swim! We hope to get her in lessons soon, because she loves the water so much.

We’re having such a wonderful time with her this summer. We go swimming and to the zoo weekly, and either park or walk to the park every night after dinner. The weather has been wonderful the past few nights here in Denver, and we’re taking full advantage of the cooler temps the rain has brought. Amelia would play outside sunup to sundown if we let her.

Finally rode a Segway!

Posted In: Travel, Everyday life — July 19, 2008 @ 11:02 pm — Peter

I recall all the hype around the “revolutionary” Segway personal transport device prior to its release. Riding one has always been on my todo list, but the opportunity has never come up. Today at the Royal Gorge Bridge, there was a guy with a collection of 5 or so Segways. For the small fee of $5 bucks, you get a brief lesson and time to zip around the patio area of the park. Yippe! It was a blast!

Swarming!

Posted In: Work life — May 30, 2008 @ 12:41 pm — Peter

Swarming, aka, working outside the office, has been on my regular schedule 2 days a week for the past few months. I really enjoy the extra family time I get during lunch and breaks. In the photo below, Amelia somehow sensed that the work day was over (5:15pm) and declared it story time.
